Newburgh Brewing Company was founded in 2012 by childhood friends Christopher Basso and Paul Halayko. Best friends since they were 12, they went to Washingtonville High School and Boston University together before their paths led them back to the Hudson Valley to start a brewery.
Chris trained at the French Culinary Institute in Manhattan and spent nearly seven years honing his craft at Brooklyn Brewery before becoming our Brew Master. Paul left a Wall Street career after developing an appreciation for quality brewing during a two-year stay in Germany. Together with Paul's uncle Charlie Benedetti overseeing sales, they brought their vision to life.
Our brewery sits in a brick building from the 1850s, 22,000 square feet that once housed a cast iron boiler foundry and later the Newburgh Paper Box Company until 1989. It's a short walk from the Hudson River and just up the street from Washington's Headquarters, where General George Washington actually lived.
Our fourth-floor taproom is built like a traditional German beer hall: long communal tables, high-tops, and big river views. Neighbors turn into friends over a pint, there's live music most weekends, and people tend to stick around.
Since opening, we've brewed over 120 styles, everything from traditional lagers to hop-forward IPAs. We're proud to be part of Newburgh's comeback, continuing a brewing tradition older than the country itself.
We never cut corners. Every beer we brew meets our high standards, or it doesn't leave the tanks.
We're proud to be part of Newburgh's renaissance. We support local causes and bring people together.
We minimize waste, source responsibly, and work to reduce our environmental footprint every day.
Come see what we're all about.
